Establishments featured on this site have been officially inspected by the AA, or Quality in Tourism (QIT). Some properties are currently awaiting inspection and their commitment to quality is highlighted by ‘inspection pending’.
 
The quality of accommodation, rather than just the facilities on offer, comes under the spotlight in the national grading scheme of the QIT and AA. These organisations jointly ensure their inspectors assess accommodation to the same consistently high standards.

Accommodation taking part in the scheme is visited every year and awarded an official rating.
 
Hostels
Hotels are given a rating from one to five stars. One star means an acceptable level of quality, services and range of facilities. The more stars awarded, the higher the quality and range of facilities and services on offer.
 

Guest Accommodation
This includes inns, guesthouses, B&Bs and farmhouses. These are awarded one to five stars. The more stars awarded, the higher the quality of cleanliness, hospitality, bedrooms, bathrooms and food standards. If the accommodation grading is shown as diamonds they have not been regraded before publication, but the same level of standard is expected.

Welcome Host
A nationally recognised customer care initiative which aims to promote the highest standards of service and a warm welcome for all visitors.


Special Accolades
In addition to the grading scheme, the QIT and AA each have their own special awards given to accommodation that meets the highest standards of quality in specific areas. Gold and Silver awards are given by the QIT to accommodation whichmeets the highest levels of quality in areas which guests say are important.


Complaints
If you have a complaint, it’s always best to first talk to the accommodation owner who will usually do their best to resolve any problems.
