Free Creative Workshops @ Stamford Museum, led by Rachel Massey

Creative Workshops @ Stamford Museum, led by Rachel Massey

Saturday 25 July, Saturday 29 August and Saturday 26 September 2009, during the All Dressed Up exhibition.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve never held knitting needles in your life, given enough time, you will be able to produce a knitted square.

Rachel Massey will lead you through the intricacies of knitting, with a bit of

history to start with. Once you have mastered the basic technique of plain knitting, you can move onto purl and different pattern stitches, and then to interpreting a knitting pattern!

Rachel Massey studied Fashion Knitwear Design and Knitted Textiles at Nottingham Trent University, and graduated in 2007. She now works as a freelance knitwear designer and produces chunky cabled adult knitwear and baby versions, fashion stripey socks and accessories.

The projects available get more advanced:

25 July Project 1: knit a square. Help us make a blanket with all the squares!

29 Aug Project 2: knit a scarf.

26 Sept Project 3: knit a bag or a flower brooch.

The workshops will run 10.30 am—12.30 pm, and 1.30—3.30 pm.

There will be needles and yarn available for people to practice on, and they are very welcome to bring their own yarn and needles if they wish.

These activities are open to all, but are not suitable for under 5s.

Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Booking is advisable, as places are limited.
